I think it's awesome how I've made two threads about how much I hate my ovaries/uterus etc. and I didn't even realize it.

"In general, sentences are more active, more restless, more forward-driving than periods, which tend to be more static and symmetrical."

king_buzzo 10.28.2007 03:23 PM

avantgarde1 10.28.2007 04:37 PM

a dear friend once told me "don't ever trust anything that walks around bleeding for 7 days and doesn't die. it's just not natural".

Menstruation is a superpower for that very reason.

Besides, I usually only bleed for 5-6 days. You can trust me.

atari 2600 10.28.2007 04:57 PM

I thought you liked that corny shit.

You mean me? What gave you the impression that I "liked that corny shit?"

atari 2600 10.28.2007 05:06 PM

The right to "bare arms?"
http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/sho...highlight=bare

"corny shit" = not a good mental image

There is a webpage called "help her have a happy period"

www.always.com/mom/boostmood.jsp

The last section entitled "give her a facial" could use some work

m1rr0r dash 10.28.2007 07:07 PM

i was also dissapointed in the section of the site that claimed to be for online predators.

MellySingsDoom 01.30.2009 05:53 AM

I think that, in England at least, there's still that mentality of the "purity" of the body being dirtied by menstrual blood, sexual discharge etc, and of not allowing this so-called "shame" to be made public. Which is a tad ridiculous, as all women menstruate and all men (well, at least those who aren'tr impotent...) ejaculate.

Talking of which, has anyone made a record based on menstrual cycle patterns etc? I know Coil did an interview once, where they talked about doing a record based on female energies....it would also be the sort of thing that Jorge Vallis/Vagina Dentata Organ or the Hafler Trio might have explored...

worst is when women do that. like in my office, one time i had one in my pocket to go change and a girl told me secretly, "it shows!". yeah, so?

Yeah, I never saw the big deal. It happens to half the people on the planet, so what?

MellySingsDoom 01.30.2009 06:32 AM

Thanks for the Coil interview link, Nefeli - I don't think I've seen this one before. :) I'lll see if I can find the Coil article I was referring to later on.

[quote=Nefeli]i know. i hate it. i m fed up with it all these years*.
and what doesnt make any sense is why it has the word "men" init. i m sorry, but noone can relate to this pain but women who suffer by it.

it doesnt come from the word 'men' but from the latin word mensis, which means month.

indeed, they can't relate ;-) it has nothing to do with men.

thank you! false etymologies drive me nuts. such as american feminists complaining of the word "history" has the "prefix" (!!!) "his"-- oyyyy!!!!

happy cramps, ladies.

may i suggest a bit reflexology? works well on my victims.

ps- agh, i suggested that already, ages ago. o well.
