we once had an american teacher giving an oil painting class. apparently she's not allowed to teach unless the rooms have a certain ventilation system. you should have seen her face when we told her the windows didn't even open in this classroom. after six hours, every single student and the teacher were... quite high.

Yeah. Both you and phoenix are right on. Tempera paint is not safe to eat. Black tempera smells like rotten eggs. As for lead-based paint, kids used to chew it off windowsills. Suprise! cancer.
And yeah, Van Gogh ate lead-based oils straight from the tube. But I don't consider him a buffoon at all. I think he would've fit right in here on the board! It's just another form of pica(sp).

Use boogers.
Yak up a goober.
Tobacco spit from chewers.
Eat corn before taking a crap.
