that's definately true. i was at a multimedia lydia lunch show and about 40-50 old men were sitting at the back of the club wearing complete black/beatnik wear and swilling red wine.
i was talking to a couple of them and found out that most of them were ex-pats who had arrived from america in the 60s after spending the late 1950s around the beats.
a very interesting and amazing place.

It's a relic.

Europe has a history for cities thinking that they are all that. The only appealing place that I haven't been to is Berlin, and the Germans seem more focused and less up their own arse than anyone. From England to Italy.

Barcelona too.

Berlin and Barcelona are both great cities. Largely because (unlike Paris) they move on.

sorry man not trying to rub it in. i was treated like shit in paris for the first 3 days of my stay because i tried to address people in english. however, after a few drinks my french came back and people were SO nice it was awesome.

Parisiennes don't take any shit like Londoners do, and that's why I love them.
