when I watched Fargo at the theater when it came out, the audience was loving it, but I was the ONLY ONE who busted out laughing HARD when homecheese blurts out "Yr a very special lady!"
HAHHHAHAHHAHAHHAHA to this day I laugh and laugh. No one else was laughing. |
Seriously no one laughed? That part is so funny and awkward and the fact that it's so awkward makes it even funnier. That movie is a riot. I can't imagine anyone not laughing at it.

Out of all the characters in Ghost World, I find myself relating to Seymour most... and I'm not even too big of a jazzhead. The entire cast is at their best, but Buscemi definitely steals the show for me. I'd love to read the comics/graphic novel(s?) one day.

They're pretty good, but they're alot different, or at least pretty noticeably different. Seymour is barely in it. His role is pretty much confined to the milkshake prank. Perfect movie. |
Wow ! I loved Ghost World !!! I should rewatch it one of these days :)
|
uhh I figured I can ask here.....Anyone know of any anime movies like Mind Game? I'm really bored right now.

![]() 4.5/10 Other than the guy who played Kim Fowley this was a piece of crap. the screenwriting didn't make much sense, stewart doesn't really try, and fanning just isn't that good. Lame |
Original (1978) version of Dawn of the Dead. Quite possibly the best zombie flick ever, ever, ever.

Havent seen it so I cant say anything about screenwriting, but from what I gather from newspaper headlines, isnt stewart not trying and fanning merely being there part of their "mystique"=sales? I saw Bad Biology based on how I didnt even realize that Henenlotter had made another film until I saw it appear in these pages. Brain Damage is definitely one of my favorite films, and Basket Case is great. ![]() Its so obviously over the top, but the overall feel of it, something I cant explain, keeps it from being a throwaway. It's definitely nowhere as good as the classics, but something about it is just so funny and honest. It might not penetrate too deep (:)), but I've never seen a point of view come remotely close as Jennifer's, and I just plain enjoyed it. |

Almost anything by Satoshi Kon.. .................................. GHOST WORLD: I always looked at it as Thora Birch's character would become Buscemi's character if she stayed in the town.. cold and distant, lifeless and unhappy... they're two sides of the same coin now, he's just older. |
and she's more luscious

Yeah, I gotta watch Paprika already! *downloads*

I think that's probably the best way to look at it. They were both forced to live in a world they didn't really understand, with all of these people that really didn't make sense to them. And they both just found different ways to deal with it. Enid just kind of made fun of it all, whereas Seymour just collected records because he couldn't invest love and energy into people. He had to put that somewhere, so he put it into records instead. If I remember correctly the book says what happens to Enid after she leaves town. |

PAPRIKA is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Its been on my "To Watch List" FOREVER! The storyline certainly seems intriguing, I'm very excited to watch this finally. |
![]() I enjoyed it. ending was quite sad....at least from a realist point of view, I think. |

Absolutely. I'd not thought of it in that way before but you're right. Brilliant movie. Quote:
yes, yes, yes. -- ![]() Apocalypto. 7/10 I love this mainly for the scene in the town, which has to be one of the most insane 30 minutes in mainstream Hollywood's history. |
thanks drail.
LAST LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE rules. |
![]() 8/10. It was just the way I expected it to be, a quite unique and original movie about love because it actually doesn't focus about "the love between two human beings" but more about "a single person being in love with another one". I think it's pretty realistic and it also has very well-directed scenes, great ideas and all that stuff. Once again, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is fucking great and he seems so nice, no one should be allowed to dump him, not even the wonderful Zooey Deschanel... I kinda hated her at the end of the movie, haha. ![]() 8/10. Continuing on my "indie movies about love" thing... I think I liked this even better than 500 Days of Summer. Why ? Well, I don't know, I love the whole atmosphere of this movie, I can't really say why... It seems so perfect yet kinda depressing... Zach Braff's character is very interesting while Natalie Portman pulls off her best performance (in my opinion). It also feels like a Wes Anderson movie (who is one of my favorite directors), if you see what I mean. Also, another indie soundtrack that is quite good, loved to see some Shins and Nick Drake in there. So, yeah, just a very very nice movie. Oh and there are some BEAUTIFUL shots at times, Zach Braff should direct more often. ![]() 8/10. I guess we can call that one an "indie movie about love" too, hahaha... Seriously, guys, this movie... It's just so cruel, Aaron Eckhart's character is one of the most evil bastards I've ever seen. I mean, just watch the movie, it speaks for itself. I love the very simple directing by the way: static shots, the camera rarely moves... It kinda makes you feel passive and makes you wanna hate the character(s) even more. I don't get why this is labelled as a black comedy though, I didn't laugh much. Great movie anyway. |

a lot of woody allen fans don't like that movie but i do "pablo's dog" ha ha ha haaa i fucking love it & the cousin-- what's her name-- she's hilarious |
i definitely love it. the movie's a comedic gem.
i love laughing out loud to a woody allen movie. haha May was hilarious i recently picked up Bananas. i plan on watching that one soon |
Woody Allen is consistently good. I think he hasn't done a really good movie in a while though. Those Scarlett Johannson movies he did sucked..
Anyway, Annie Hall is one of my favorite movies ever. |
not bad, bit of abrupt ending but i thought it was better than factotum. |
I've been thinking of giving this (Bar Fly) a rewatch recently,i remember watching it ages ago and really liking it,wanted to see if it's as good as i remember..

I think the last good movie he did was Curse Of The Jade Scorpion. which i think was pretty entertaining. Celebrity is an enjoyable movie too. I don't find a lot of fans talking about that one. it's a shame. |

did you watch ovation last night???? I was going to watch this but Ryan put it on skateboarding the new maloof money cup was coming on. |
![]() funnier than I expected. Crispin Glover was amazing. Chevy Chase was completely unnecessary. ![]() never tire of this movie. And I love how it was like the real original Grind House idea betwixt the two... I mean they basically tricked audiences (and the industry) into seeing a schlocky vampire flick by disguising it as a dialogue heavy gangster flick (which was what QT was known for at the time). So awesome. ![]() I don't care if it's not the hip or film-snob-approved thing to say -- THIS is my favorite Zombie movie. Seriously. |
Quote:
I think it's a fair shout. It's probably the one I enjoy watching the most (along with Fulci's Zombie Flesheaters). I'd still say Night and Dawn are 'better' movies but for sheer entertainment value, you can't really beat Return. |
Quote:
that's kind of what I was getting at. I feel like the proper thing to say is that Night or Dawn are your favorite... and as you pointed out, they're probably "better" movies (if we're going by say importance or quality of writing etc), BUT the bottom line is that based on my own personal enjoyment, Return is my favorite. I'll watch that one AT LEAST once or twice a year. But Night & Dawn I can go 3-5 years between viewings. |

|
It's alright... but did you guys see SCOOP? Ugh.
|
Quote:
Absolutely. I increasingly find myself 'appreciating' Night rather than really enjoying it. I still really enjoy Dawn but Return and Zombie Flesheaters just put a massive grin on my face from beginning to end. |
