Kickass
|
Kickass kicks ass.
|
you guys know how "Hollywood Cooley" is. :)
|
![]() 2.5/10 Yes, it is THAT bad. It just fucking failed from teh ground up... the dialogue and script were entertainingly awful though. ![]() 7/10 Good, not great. ![]() 8.5/10 I fucking loved this movie. |
^WTF is THAT???? Jonah Hill is hilarious, and Catherine Keener fuckng rules.
|
Its basically an exceptional indie comedy.
If you are a fan of Jonah Hill, you have to see this. Its... possibly his best performance as an actor. |
amazing. What I like about him so much is that his delivery proves to me that he understands acting. Not just comedy. Not just being crass. He knows how to come across genuine -- and with genuine reACTions. He's very awesome. SUPERBAD is a favorite of mine, and a lot has to do with how believable Jonah and Cera are in that. I fucking knew those dudes in high school. Y'know?
and enough can't be said about Catherine Keener. She's just so great. BTW, why the fuck did you see The Last Air Bender?? |
Can't wait to see Cyrus, even though Baghead and Puffy Chair aren't that great.
And I hate the Royal Tannenbaums. Most annoying characters ever. Such a dull dull movie. |
I love Tannenbaums. Easily my favorite Anderson flick.
Bottle Rocket - so so Rushmore - awesome Tannenbaums - slightly more awesome Life Aquatic - meh Darjiling - ok new one - didn't see |
![]() To be honest, I find most of those films kinda boring and dull. I just don't really get into his style at all. It's this really REALLY dry (but unfunny) thing with unlikeable characters getting into really safe situations (I'd say "obvious" but they're not so much that as they are "complacent"; like, nothing surprising happens ever, it all just kinda goes from one ultradry "kinda quirky" segment to the next). My thing about Tannenbaums is that the first 20 minutes is this really long narrated thing, with each character and their life history, and I really think it's such a terrible way to open a film; 20 minutes of a guy going, "YEAH, THIS GIRL HAD A BIRD AND IT DID THIS, AND THEN THE DAD WAS SAD AND THE MOM WAS MAD AND THE OTHER KID DID THIS OH AND THEN 3 YEARS LATER AT A BIRTHDAY, THE DAD WAS SMOKING AND HE DID THIS." I just found that annoying, so that by the time the actual "film" happens, I'm already just out of it... the pacing is terrible and the characters suck. then the rest of the film freely cuts between these characters I can't stand. It doesn't help that he casts the Wilsons, Stiller, Adrien Brody, all people I don't like. I dunno. Just not into his style or his storytelling. I think Rushmore is really good though. Actually, it's great. He uses what I find irritating about his other flicks and does something interesting with it. Of his other films, Bottle Rocket is tolerable. The rest just... eh. |
if I saw Tannenbaums for the first time today, I might not liek it. But ... well that's a lie. But it made me cry to be blunt. And to be blunt again, I've never watched it without crying. So I guess the whole is it good/bad thing doesn't matter. It affects me. So I like it.
Rushmore I can just say is a really really good movie. It's funny. |
I just can't get into movies where I don't like the characters. I mean, it's just as plain as that. I think the editing was good but... I mean, that's it. Some of the direction and editing. I just couldn't get into it. And I tried. It seems Mr. Anderson just has a very very particular sense of humor -- don't worry, I have that too! -- and it's not one that I'm into...
Rushmore was a lot easier to relate to, and appreciate, for me at least. And I felt lots of it genuinely amusing. |
Kickass wasn't bad but at the same time wasn't one I was going to commit to burning my pirated copy of. 6 out of 10
After that I saw this ![]() So bad it was half decent. 5 out of 10 with some rather decent humorous moments and just enough WTF to keep me going. |
Bad Biology rules. Henenlotter is a genius.
|
biggest LOL moment was the mechanical device used to jerk Baatz off
|
The only thing I didn't like about it was the "yo yo yo" white people trying to be urban...
But the stop motion penis! Damn! Have you seen Brain Damage? That's probably my favorite non-slasher horror film ever. 10/10 movie./. |
Tokyo Eyes
|
Yeah Bad Biology is hilarious.
|
Brain Damage, that takes me back, might have to give that a re-watch soon.
|
I really liked Tokyo Eyes. Not many people did, though. It's nothing groundbreaking, but a) it has Kitano, b) it has Virtua Fighter, c) it has disaffected youth.
|
Just started watching Farewell to the Ark, not liking it too much very slow beginning,it's ok tho, nice surreal.
I've not seen Bad Biology yet. |
Duplaaaaasssssssssssssssss

I dig it, but it's definitely Terayama's worst (and too bad it's his last :(). I mean, nothing will ever be as good as Pastoral: To Die in the Country, which I've recently decided is the best film ever made. |
hey you all posting in this thread! here's a pic of a girl who remind me strongly of an actress but can't remember who it can be.. anyone has an idea ??? who is she looking like the most?

haha, what? That's Christina Aguilera..
|
Oh my god, those French blogs are one of the many reasons I sometimes hate the internet :D And yeah, it looks like Christina Aguilera, she's not an actress I think...
Today, I went to the cinema and watched: ![]() 10/10. I thought it was going to be a simple movie about loneliness in space and all that psychological shit in the beginning but it turned out to go WAY FURTHER than that. I was truly amazed, it's a very smart movie. I simply love about everything in this movie, it has probably Clint Mansell's best score, it's one of the few movies where I thought that the music fit SO WELL and actually BROUGHT something to the movie. Sam Rockwell's performance is nothing short of incredible, one of the best I've seen in the past years. The directing is just classic and works very well, there are some really BEAUTIFUL shots throughout the whole movie and I even shed a tear during at least two scenes (and yet, I hardly ever cry during movies). In short, one of the best sci-fi movies I've ever seen. |

![]() 8/10 ![]() 6/10 ![]() 8/10 ![]() 5/10 |
A very nice picture of Christina A.
|
only a 6 for touch of evil? its amazing. and good call on out of the past, great noir.
|
I really like parts of Touch of Evil. The opening is great, it's a beautiful film to watch and the last 30 minutes or so are pretty amazing. Orson Welles role is great.
My biggest problem with it is the dialogues I think. They felt stupid and silly, and I couldn't tell if it was because they tried to be funny and failed or what it was. They annoyed me and ruined the mood of the film several times. Out of the Past is great, Robert Mitchum is one of my favorite actors! |
GIUSEPPE ANDREWS RETIRES FROM FILMMAKING!
gods/goddesses, i have never talked much about my movie making experience, and the times i have for the most part hide what they were really about.Film (like all other mediums) is an artistic tool for soul-lessons,this medium in particular allows the artist to record visually the outer-life...there in lies the difficulty with it since true answers are found inside. The artist is born yearning to express to others the inner-life even if he or she doesn't realize it when they begin to explore their gifts.I became very frustrated with trying to make film exude what music can do so easily that it would be a waste of time to keep pursuing it.This exiting of the film medium is not sad for me,it is joyous! I'm glad to not be stifled any longer from what i can share with you through music about our inner-life,the outer is obviously a huge part of cinema (even for the greats) and you run into all it's lies, nonsense and agony time and time again (along with it's massive beauty too of course but the other hoops get old.) My soul learned what it needed from this medium and i am grateful for the experience,i beat every addiction, confusion and ignorance through it,and most importantly learned music from it! My greatest joys making the films were when scenes i created gave one of the actors a heightened experience that took them away from their pain, lonliness,& fears for a moment..for me that's why they're important. i love you, giuseppe |
=( Major bummer! ^

Ugh. Terror Firmer is waaaaaaaay too long. I got a copy of it from a pawn shop many years ago, the double disc unrated dvd, for $3. Ended up giving it away for free.

this. |
I really liked Terror Firmer a lot. I've seen it many times.
|
Touch of Evil and Out of the Past are amazing. Touch has probably the weirdest casting ever though in Charlton Heston.
![]() Pretty interesting film, I'm not sure if there was a purpose in mind, but I think I can sort of see the edges of the nebula of what it was about. Though I'd hesitate to speculate until I saw it again. That being said, I just thought it was ok...well let me phrase it this way. I thought the beginning was rather dull with some moments of interest. But ultimately I just kind of had a whatever vibe to it. That is until the 'prophets' portion when he goes after the four Masters of the Gun. That whole section of the film is incredible! There are just some amazing bits there, the nihilism, the antithetical thinking, the rabbits! That 20 minute period or however long it was was really stellar. Then the movie got pretty lame again, though I liked the church bit with the members playing russian roulette to gamble with God, that part was cool. Strangest rollercoaster of quality this film. |
Tennembaums is great and gets better every viewing. the characters are not supposed to be likable.
Touch of Evil is a 10/10 for me. Love that movie. Well's character alone... MOON was fucking awesome. Saw this yesterday ![]() for a die-hard american football fan this was a tough one to watch. If I had no love, friends, talents, or music to love, I could see myself getting like this poor guy, reclusive and omni-obsessed with his favorite team the NY Giants. Very sad movie at times. 9/10 |
