Jackie from Roseanne is AMAZING in Pacific Heights!
|
![]() 7/10 Liked it better the second time. I'm really starting to enjoy Steven Soderbergh. ![]() 9/10 What can I say? This movie was just plain awesome. ![]() 6.5/10 For what it is, its pretty good. Held on its own as your standard summer blockbuster, you could do alot worse (plus the kung fu is pretty cool) |
I'd give PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS a 7. I'd give the original a 10.
|
I haven't seen the original. I have it on the dvr so I'll have to watch it.
|
It appears that the website movie-links.tv has been seized by the feds.
|
oh, they're constantly switching new addresses.
|
![]() 8/10. Awesome British movie, the acting is fucking remarkable. I think I still like Dead Man's Shoes better though (Paddy Considine's performance is one of the best things ever). |
Disney's Brink

![]() I hadn't seen this since the original VHS release, and I have to say that it was actually pretty decent. They were clearly attempting to recreate the magic of the first film, and more times than not...it worked. Plus, the ending was simply outstanding, and just as memorable as the closing scene of the original. ![]() This was my first time seeing it, and I'm pretty confident in saying that I loathe this film in every way imaginable. It is a precise example of bad-bad taste. The entire plot is beyond worthless, and not even in a "Sweet! Straight to the blood 'n guts!" sort of way. Not one single kill was satisfying, and the plot was thinner than a dead crack whore. For such a simple story, you wouldn't think that the plot holes could possibly be so gaping, but they are. Just wait until you see how they bring back Michael... talk about lazy writing. Like Seed of Chucky, this film attempts to exemplify the pop culture of the early 00's, and spit it's grotesque wrath all over the times. However, Halloween: Resurrection only succeeded in making me astonishingly miserable, unlike the brilliantly wild Seed of Chucky, which I still find to be cunning, and witty to this day. Overall, H20 was the perfect way to finally end the Halloween series, and Resurrection is an unwarranted abomination. |

![]() Out 1 Been watching this, it's 12 hours long so it's been tough to get through but there's some brilliant shit in it. I've also been watching Liquid Teleivsion, and finally got around to watching all the episodes David Lynch's tv series Hotel Room (which was pretty awful, honestly; nowhere near as good as Twin Peaks or On the Air). |
Maya Deren - Experimental Films
Been watching Meshes of the Afternoon on loop. |
The original Bad Leutenant is a straight tragedy. The Port of Call one is more of a dark dark comedy, werner hezog style.
I like them both a shit ton. One is scary and disturbing and the other is scary and disturbing and FUNNY, at least if one is twisted a bit. |
![]() 9/10. It really is like this being in love with a scarred and damaged person. |
![]() Definitely a must-watch for fans of flicks like Jack Frost, and Troll 2. |
^then I should see it, cuz I love both of those!!
oh and I agree with yr takes on H20 and Ressurection. I'm glad you see how good H20 is. It really worked well. And the ending is amazing. Ressurection is... terrible. I watch it once every 3 or so years to remind myself HOW bad it is though. |

shutter island - 3/10
I don't believe Scorsese directed this. But it does give me a chance to rate all of his films! Who's That Knocking at my Door - 9/10 Boxcar Bertha - 8/10 Mean Streets - 8/10 Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore - 7/10 Taxi Driver - 11/10 New York, New York - 6/10 Raging Bull - 8/10 King of Comedy - 9/10 After Hours - 6/10 Color of Money - 8/10 Last Temptation of Christ - 8/10 Goodfellas - 8/10 Cape Fear - 7/10 (really a 6 but it's so fucking hilarious I had to give it another point!) Age of Innocence - 6/10 Casino - 9/10 Kundun - 5/10 (actually a great film, just not my kind of movie) Bringing Out the Dead - 7/10 Gangs of New York - 6/10 Aviator - 5/10 The Departed - 6/10 (Infernal Affairs gets an 8/10 btw) I also recently got his documentary American Boy, which is EXCELLENT, and dialogue from it is used word-for-word in Waking Life. |
![]() 8/10. A great movie, there's a strange kind of Cronenberg feel to it, don't you think ? William Hurt's performance is top notch and some of the hallucination scenes are fucking insane. ![]() 5/10. Disappointing. I usually LOVE zombie movies and I thought the fucked-up idea of Nazi zombies was brilliant (even though it's not the first time someone thinks of it) but as soon as the movie started, it kinda failed to entertain me. It starts way too slowly (that's the problem with most typical horror films) and actually, the Nazi thing doesn't bring anything to the movie, it could have worked with regular zombies. The "storyline" they use with the war treasure and all that stuff is fucking ridiculous... At least, it has some awesome zombie death scenes and the scene where they put the cabin on fire is hilarious so it doesn't totally suck. Very predictable movie nevertheless. |
Ken Russel, wohoo. Go watch LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM or (the shitty, except for the hallucination scenes) GOTHIC. Some of the wildest, craziest trip scenes ever!
Yep, Altered States used to scare the living shit out of me as a kid. The fucking goat. As far as nazi zombies go, Shock Waves and Zombie Lake are both okay but meh. |

I'll check that out ! From what I've seen, Ken Russell is a great director. Tommy is one of my favorite musical movies EVER (and it also has one of my favorite movie endings ever). |
Ken Russell is like a 12-year old with a film crew.
|
Cool, there needs to be more 12 year olds then. Then, movies would actually be entertaining.
|
I agree. His films are entertaining. They entertain me. I find them funny or absurd or whatever, and it keeps my interest. But I don't think he's a "good" director.
|
The Devils is a good film. Altered States is a good film. He has talent. In editing, composition, structure, lighting, etc.
He's a good director. Maybe not a great director... |
WHORE and WOMEN IN LOVE are cool films too.
|
![]() A fucking fantastic movie, one of the best ones I've seen in a while. The last part was so scary I almost shat my pants. 9/10. |
I'll go as far as to say he's an "okay director"...
...BTW, it took me reading like 15 of yr posts to notice I was talkign to you, adam. Changing avatars always throws me off for a day or two. haha. |
