Yeah, I HATE looking on the Everton forum I go on when Everton lose. Never seen a bigger bunch of bedwetters in your life. However, a couple of them were saying how similar he is to Martinez which I can kinda agree with.
Worst thing is I honestly don't think anything will change when Mina gets fit and playing. Up front we really can't be relying on one person to score goals. Otherwise you end up looking like Crystal Palace. Arsenal next. Perfect... |
Have to say, some of Silva's comments in the post match were very reminiscent of Martinez.

So have you seen it yet? |
No I haven't. I stupidly forgot about it Sunday morning, checked the news on my phone and there was the result. So in my annoyance I refused to watch it. Sounds like there were more controversial decisions, right?
|
EDIT: Watching Brighton Southampton. As bad as Everton were yesterday, and West Ham in the previous games, we can be assured that neither are quite as bad as Brighton.
EDIT2: Although Brighton actually making a game of it now. EDIT3: Fuckin hell. I take it all back, Brighton aren't great but they don't give up. Great game in the end. Low on real quality but full of action. Good stuff. [Canelo GGG] The result was controversial but it was a much better fight than the 1st one, and it's not like the result was a travesty. I wstched it pretty neutrally. I didn't keep score but going to the judges I did think GGG might've just edged it,. He finished stronger, though, so that might've influenced how I saw the fight overall. And either way it was close. I'll watch it again when it's on youtube and see how I would've scored it. Now there's talk of ANOTHER rematch, which is just getting ridiculous. EDiT: I just rewatched it on youtube. I scored it 6 rounds to 4 GGG with two rounds too close to call. So for me at best it was a draw for Canelo. But an awesome fight. Whatever you might think of Canelo, both guys are truly great I think. (directed at h8kurdt, oviously. apologies to those who don't give a flying fuck about this) |
HOLY SHIT LIVERPOOL PSG TOMORROW????
there goes the middle of my workday... |
and tonight PSV is going to beat the crap out of Barcelona
yes they will shut up and let me dream on :D oh and the start times of the matches have changed, no longer all at whatever 20:45, but one match at 19:00 and one match at 21:00. So you can cancel your entire workday probably |
Quote:
Yeah, looks like more tv scheduling influence, the spurs game is brought forward too. |
Quote:
i am glad this is happening so each game can get the attention it deserves. however, since im in a different time zone, i can only accommodate one live game per workday... sometimes. but it’s not like i was gonna watch 2 at once. hm, maybe i’ll have them on in the corner of a screen, and lift my head when i hear screaming... |
oh no no no
fox no longer carries the champions league!! fml i’m scramblin’... .— it’s on TNfuckinT!! ok here we go — my screen freezes barca scores 2 i’m on a roll today with this stream business |

Yeah, that rustles my jimmies. Not seen many people give Canelo the win which is baffling. Welcome back to the mob era, if it ever left. Anyway, both Dembele's and Messi's goals tonight was just *kisses fingertips*. Which surname has more players related to it-Dembele or Traore? Feel like I can name 5 of each of the top of my head. Hyped for the Liverpool/PSG game tonught. Champions league is back, baby!! |
Jeeeesus. How did Spurs throw THAT away?
|
Quote:
lol. Lads, it's Spurs |
oh, inter punked spurs!
why didn’t i see that... the salami schedule needs to be sliced thinner! |

More pertinently, why didn't Spurs? |
funny story man, i swear, my screen glitched the fuck out again and sure enough, liverpool scored their first.

oooooooh shit mbappé suddenly appears at last and BLAM
— draxler an improvement eh — firmino!! |
While we were taking about underrated players with Son, If there's a patron saint for those players it must surely bel Milne. He's gonna leave a huge hole in that Liverpool squad when he does eventually retire.

So who's watching what tonight?
17:55 Ajax AEK Athens 17:55 Shakhtar Hoffenheim 20:00 Benfica Bayern 20:00 Man City Lyon 20:00 Real Madrid Roma 20:00 Valencia Juventus 20:00 Viktoria CSKA Moscow 20:00 Young Boys Man Utd I'll probably go with the Man City game but none of them look that interesting. |
oh, interested i benfica bayern, ty for the heads up
— btw read the jonathan wilson bit, and i’m not convinced he makes you forget the game almost ended 2-2 i saw a game where liverpool dominated possession, sure but the score tells a different story im not ready to write off psg after this display — also im not a huge fan of count orlock, who disappointed at dortmund, but taking away a tie abroad against last year’s finalist would not have been a bad result at all |

Yeah, I read it fully after I linked it and I agree: his assessment of the game itself was way off. I did think PSG were awful but criticism has to go to Liverpool, too, for letting them back in. His criticism of PSG's defence for Firminho's winner was spot on though. I've not seen enough of PSG under Tuchel to know if that was a representative performance but if it was they will have problems, and that's where I really agreed with the article. But we'll know a lot more when/if they go deeper into the tournament. But yeah, not as good an article as I 1st thought. |
yeah nobody has seen count orlock really, this being his first season. he spent last year unemployed, not sure where (brooklyn perhaps? lol)
im still gathering commentaries on the game. i watched it in univision and those guys are definitely not experts on european football, so they say mostly pointless shit. guardian apparently has several pieces. will post links here as i find. |
oh, his point about a lack of domestic challenges is spot on
i thought bayern experienced a bit of that under guardiola. so far ahead at home, they didnt know how to face a challenge anymore. so they’d punk the weak teams (7-0 at roma) and fold before the good ones. |
More than just the lack of competition, it's the way everything seems designed solely to cater to a couple of (undoubted) megastars. At a different level, obviously, but it's the exact point I was making about Chichorito, and players like him, being gradually phased out, as teams try to emulate the more fluid style associated with the new generation of managers, of which Tuchel is obviously a part. For me it's less about PSG, who are, after all, only doing what Real were doing during their Galactico era, I just think that models dying and while there'll always be a place for players like Neymar, I don't think the new managers (by which I suppose I mean post-Pep) would be interested in him the way he plays for PSG. He'd be expected to contribute far more.
|
Tbf, he did end up tracking back a lot more than usual. Or more than I've seen of him do. Sure there was one point he was basically acting like a LB.
|
oh, a funny thing the univision dudes were saying instead of calling the game
they started yapping about how neymar was now the most hated player in the world “more even than cristiano ronaldo” said one ha ha ha ha the other one said that cristiano was highly respected in england nevertheless |
bayern injuries for this match:
coman injured from season start now surgery out 3 months tolisso broken anterior cruciate ligament (knee) surgery out 7-8 months rafinha torn ankle ligaments out several weeks —- nevertheless, after a nice ribery-alaba play, lewandowski scores easy from a cross |
Man City in full self destruct mode

bayern having it easy ahead just 1-0 missing chances fortunately today univision featuring argentinians on announcing & commentary -- SO, do you blame pep? xD |

All I can tell you is Man City were terrible but got it back to 1-2. Pep will be hoping that was their obligatory collapse out of the way early. But take nothing away from Lyon, who were excellent. It wasn't pretty though.
