Super weird but very intriguing. Sounds as if you're listening to the radio and consistently change rhythmically between channels

Nice if it means it'll shift a few more units, but good LAWD am I sick of the term "post-punk" being tagged on anyone who didn't do their shit when post-punk actually happened. I understand FACS' influences clearly reflect that era, but even still, "post-punk" was very diverse anyway. High time to get rid of it as a stylistic label.

Squid - Bright Green Field



Solid Post-Punk revival with some Dancepunk elements and vocals that settle somewhere between Talking Heads-era David Byrne and James Chance. Musically, it's more the former than the latter. Solid so far, not phenomenal, though some songs are standouts indeed. It may grow on me more some day.

After their fantastic first full-length outing "Surfeit Of Gemütlich", which dwelled in dark Speakeasy bars and sleazy Cabarets, and which I never tire of calling a wonderful contemporary companion piece to Bauhaus's classic sophomore album "Mask", they are back with their magnificent followup "Battle/Choice/Luxe". Leaning heavier into the Deathrock territory and venturing even deeper into avantgardistic and more minimalist terrain, that sweet noirish sax-sound is still very present - making for a well-rounded listen. Much like the cover artwork suggests, the decadent tendencies of yesteryear are now starting to decay and have come to haunt us, a notion underscored by more dissonant compositions. Delivering an exhillerating, politically-charged listen, Battle/Choice/Luxe is another triumph by one of the most promising projects on the Deathrock/Post-Punk/Avantgarde horizon right now.
