I feel like I was watching a different game to everyone else. I thought Brazil were brilliant today.

the way they absorbed pressure in the first half was brilliant the way they attacked in 2nd half was calm and deliberate then firmino the ace in the hole poor mexico by comparison was spent |
Yeah, not perfect but it's the most convincing team performance I've seen so far.
I credit Mexico for having a go (especially in the 1st half) but the gulf in quality became increasingly evident. |
boohoohoo!!! Kompany is playing tonight instead of Boyata, and Boyata is in my team :( No points, unless Kompany gets injured early and needs to be substituted. But let's not wish for that to happen
I'm listening to Mono from Japan, not sure if that's the right preparation when I'm supposed to be cheering for Belgium. Oh well |

i think it was perfect! they did just what was necessary and no more save the exhaustion for the belgium game. (and belgium should do the same today. i think...) Quote:
ha ha ha! |

Same, but given it's Kompany he'll probably break something pulling his socks up in the tunnel |
japan starts well, considering.
at this pace they will burn out soon but i appreciate heroics |
Lukaku's getting closer and closer
|
Japan having a go. Belgium's defence don't like defending.
|
ouch that was close! Japan nearly nearly scored in 43th minute if the ball would have rolled quicker towards the goal
|
and closer and closer and closer...
but it’s like achilles and the turtle! XD |
Holy fuck
|
Hoooleeee Shitnuts
|
fuck!! I'll never listen to Mono again :(

was that a lucky goal or what
— and now fellaini: that was real — i think having more options than “all balls to lukaku” is working for belgium |
overtime = great for brazil
— luckeeeeeeeeee (of course lukaku scores me 0. great!!) |
i feel sorry for people who don't like this sport
|
amazing amazing game
|
Belgium won like the Germans used to do: in the dying seconds of the match :D
Wow, I already was afraid it would end up in penalties |

Me too. Annoying from a FF pov but his dummy for the winner was brilliant. But Hazard's cross to Fellaini for the equalizer ... just fucking beautiful. |
who is Werrahesse? He had Vertonghen on the bench and he scored 7 points. With my four Belgians and Bench boost active I only scored 8 points total

As good as they [eventually) looked going forward I can't see that defence keeping Neymar, Jesus and Coutinho at bay, and Brazil look far more capable of closing out the game than Japan. |

this is why i removed courtois from my team. he had paid well in group stage but i figured this would be a different story. |
It's gonna be murder picking defenders for the QFs.

but who knows! |
I've got 3 big money Spaniards to off-load, otherwise I'd be taking great pleasure ditching Boyata.
This time tonight I might even have to get shot of Kane ... but I can't think about that possibility. (shudders) |
i ditched him already and it might be the dumbest move ever
he might very well be the golden boot, or whatever that’s called. boot or ball? something. i just had to make my gambles with a certain logic (or lack of it) and his sale paid for them. but yeah he’s a solid goalscorer and can go all the way. |
this first half exemplifies what i grew up believing was “the european game”: simple, physical, effective, totally lacking flair, and a little dull.
clearly things are not like that, or not anymore anyway, with the massive globalization of the game, and having seen europeans of insane ability now, i know this is just ultimately false. but to feed the stereotype, compare to yesterday’s brazil/mexico with both the skill and dribbling (good) and histrionics (bad) on display. only think that lacked fom the old days was more goals. anyway this game sucks for my taste ha ha ha. i hope whoever they play next round crushes them. |

Haha It sucks for everybody's taste! |

though it did get intense in the end whoever had that sweedish keeper in has made a killing |
Fair to say that wasn't a classic.
Now, the big one. Nervous as fuck here. Not bothered if it's a borefest. Just care about the result. -- As an aside, Loew staying as Germany manager. Absolute insanity https://www.theguardian.com/football...-world-up-stay |
Yeah, didn't the German board say even befor thier last game that they've always known they're gonna keep him on whatever the result would be that night?
Internet arguments why do I it? Arguing with someone who actually thinks diving has always been a prevalent thing in football, and not something that has gotten worse and worse over the past couple of decades (god, that makes me sound old) |
Quote:
who were you arguing with? neymar's dad? |
it’s gonna be a thriller for you guys no matter what happens on the pitch
but i trust it will be an animated contest! |
England: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire; Trippier, Alli, Henderson, Lingard, Young; Sterling, Kane.
Need to get Sterling running at them straight away. Have to use our pace to our advantage. Still waiting on Colombia team news. |
