I'm listening to the new Holy Fuck album, Congrats
I didn't have super high hopes for this one for some reason, even though I like the band. I figured it would kinda straddle the line between "fair" and "why bother?" like that last Hot Chip album, and most of the electronic/disco/punk groups after the fad died. But it's more droney and minimalist than I thought, and there's something really refreshing about it. ![]() I approve! |
I like my Severian all refreshed. Tell me all about the refreshing bits.
|
I've been enjoying this recently, but it may be a little too "distant" for some......

Sam Kidel - Disruptive Muzak
![]() Very beautiful. |

Agreed. It's not to be brushed under the rug. It's closer to Fuck Buttons than Holy Ghost (see what I did there?), and it really isn't part of any post-DFA tradition. They're an entirely different breed, and I think this new album is more than just an so-so "electropunk" nostalgia trip. In fact, it doesn't make me think of those bands at all, and I feel like a dick for thinking it would be anything like Hot Chip. I'm loving it. Really am. |
^^how'd you like disruptive muzak, slavo? a lot of the people I spoke with about it hated the first side and thought the b was dull, but I thought it was so well-executed and the instrumental itself is gorgeous, really elegant stuff.
