![]() certainly not as good as House Of The Devil. But it had such good ideas. The acting was kind of meh. I'd give it a 3/5. I did really like the horror host thing. I think Ti West will make more good movies. |
I rewatched :
![]() 10/10. Still fucking perfect. |
I don't think it's perfect. But it is a great debut.
|
Clerks is close to perfection, and I hate Kevin Smith. Clerks 2 is TERRIBLE.
|
I actually enjoyed Clerks II, though they are certainly 2 different movies. I don't hate Kevin Smith. I like him quite a bit. But I hate Dogma. And I hate Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.
|
I like all his movies, EVEN Jersey Girl.
That's all. |
I think Dogma is probably in the top 10 worst films ever made...

I like Jersey Girl. But Dogman and Jay & Silent Bob blow. |

Dogma is hilarious imo. I like Jay and Silent Bob.
|
I too found Dogma hilarious.

Yeah, I'm just waiting for Ti to completely blow me away with something soon. I am certain he will. Sooner than later, if he drops the auteur attitude and starts working with writers. House of the Devil was beautiful, but it felt a little thin (just like The Roost). |
House Of The Devil was leaps and bounds better than The Roost though. He figured out atmosphere completely. So I feel like he's improving.

me too, i left the theater scratching my head. i mean, i thought it was good but it's my least favorite tarantino film. |
Basterds was alright, Tarantino hasn't ever made a really good film though.
|
Watched Cronenberg's The Dead Zone for the first time yesterday and was a bit disappointed.
One of his lesser works in my opinion. |
"The Road" with Viggo Mortensen.
It was good, kind of Fallout-like. |

Jackie Brown was excellent man! |
Quote:
hells yeah. I love Tarantino. Always have. I don't care what anyone says. Reservoir Dogs - 4/5 Pulp Fiction - 5/5 Jackie Brown - 3/5 Kill Bill Volume 1 - 4/5 Kill Bill Volume 2 - 5/5 Death Proof - 4/5 Inglourious Basterds - 4/5 and for extra credit: True Romance - 4/5 Natural Born Killers - 4/5 Four Rooms - 3/5 From Dusk Till Dawn - 5/5 and: I wish My Best Friend's Birthday existed. I haven't seen the CSI two-parter that he directed yet. |
trhe CSI he directed was TENSE and great
|
yeah, I heard there's a stand-alone DVD release of it. I wanna nab that.
|
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the series but his CSI episode is quite great
|
Tarentino just doesn't do much for me. Sorry, but it's true

I'll still sleep just fine. |
Pretty decent ratings NR but definitely 3/5 is to low for Jackie Brown. I haven't seen Basterds yet so I can't rate it. Does he get any credit for Hostel? Also the trailer for Machete?
|
he only produced (gave $) Hostel. And Machete is by Eli Roth, not Tarantino.
|
jackie bROWN is nearly flawless man! deniro hittin a bong and complaining about it being cashed out?
priceless! |
The Dead Zone is a masterpiece!
Anyway.. Sans Soleil - 8/10 La Jatee - 8/10 Revanche - 8/10 A Serious Man - 8/10 WAX or the Discovery of Television Among Bees - 7/10 |
Quote:
yeah. Yeah. That whole scene is great. I guess the more I think about it, it's 4/5. |
I have watched it thrice and each time was better than the last
|
saw it in the theater!
|

You, the Living - 8/10

isn't it by robert rodriguez? i mean, danny trejo is in every one of his movies. at least the machete feature film will be rodriguez's, i guess. jackie brown is one of my favorite films ever; love the mixed up plot, love the characters, the acting, the shots, the music. i guess it's hard to relate for some people since it doesn't have gore or a lot of action and the central characters are older types and (mostly) black. underrated movie. ---- by the way, last two i saw were monty python and the holy grail (claaaassic!!) and --speaking of rodriguez-- once upon a time in mexico; it was entertaining, very tarantino-esque in that he took mexploitation (like quentin has with samurai, kung fu, blaxploitation, gangster, war, tracheotomy, etc. movies) and made it his own with a big budget and hollywood actors. |
My Best Friend's Birthday is on youtube, noisereductions. Or it was. It's not very good. Here's how I'd rate his films..
My Best Friend's Birthday - 5/10 City on Fire Remake - 7/10 Pulp Fiction - 7/10 Jackie Brown - 7/10 Kill Bill Volume 1 - 6/10 Kill Bill Volume 2 - 5/10 Death Proof - 0/10 Inglourious Basterds - 6/10 and for extra credit: True Romance - 6/10 (first half is perfect, second half.. not so much) Natural Born Killers - 9/10 Four Rooms - 5/10 From Dusk Till Dawn - 6/10 Sin City - 6/10 FILMS TARANTINO HAS PRODUCED OR BROUGHT TO AMERICA OR ACTED IN Sonatine - 10/10 Chunking Express - 9/10 Detroit 9000 - 4/10 The Beyond - 9/10 Hard Core Logo - 7/10 Mighty Peking Man - 8/10 Switchblade Sisters - 6/10 Curdled - 5/10 Iron Monkey - 7/10 Killing Zoe - 6/10 Destiny Turns on the Radio - 3/10 From Dusk Till Dawn 2 - 4/10 From Dusk Till Dawn 3 - 5/10 Hero - 7/10 Protector - 7/10 Hostel - 5/10 Hell Ride - 6/10 Something like that. |
