![]() 8/10. Classy movie. Also, I went to the cinema today and watched : ![]() 8/10. I saw it in 3D, it was impressive at moments and entertaining. Also, some action scenes were pretty mindblowing. Too bad the story was too much of a cliché and very predictable... Oh, and not enough badassery for a James Cameron movie... |
|
![]() It was a bit unsettling at times. Glasgow sure looks like a bleak shithole. A good film with a solid performance by Kate Dickie. |
Glasgow isn't too much of a bleak shithole! (I should know, I sort of live there).
|
Red Road looks pretty damned good.

![]() 7/10. It's far from being one of my favorite movies from the Coen brothers but it's still a good movie. The end is fucking terrific ! ![]() 7/10. I was a bit disappointed, considering this won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1989. Anyway, the actors were good, especially James Spader. |
I just saw The Green Mile last night for the first time.
What a great flick ! ![]() I felt just like the big black dude toward the end when he said he was ready to go, that he was tired. Humanity is very disappointing. |

No. For me: ![]() In three parts... Scorsese's short: 9/10 Copolla's short: 1/10 Allen's short: 6/10 |
Blood Simple is by far my favorite Coen Brothers film, with Man Who Wasn't There being a close 2nd.
Sex Lies and Video Tapes is awesome, though the movie Speaking Parts (which S, L, and VT quite clearly ripped off) is leagues better. |
![]() 10/10. I tend to watch this at least once a year. It's just perfect. Anyone wanting to see how they can make a film with almost no budget should watch Duel. |

Really really good film. I still want a film made that just outlines his discography in detail as well. |

'Bunny & The Bull' I really liked it. Reminded me of the films of Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children, Amelie), crossed with The Mighty Boosh (obviously, given that Paul King wrote & directed it), Withnail & I and Le Cirque Invisible. Plus the music is by the Ralfe Band and "Alone Again Or" by Love closes the film. also saw http://www.eddieizzardbelieve.com/ 'Believe: The Eddie Izzard Story' (a documentary about the comedian Eddie Izzard). I liked this one too. It was more interesting than I expected it to be. |
thanks for the 'Bunny & The Bull' reminder, gonna get that now.
(mighty boosh is one of my favorite shows of all time) |
I've never enjoyed The Mighty Boosh myself.
|
I'm the same. I've watched the Mighty Boosh and thought bits of it were funny but not enough for me to make a point of watching it when I see that it's on.

![]() 8/10. Opening shot + fat Orson Welles + the end = awesome. |

BTW, did any of you freaks notice Lindsay Lohan was in this for a brief second at the end of the film? I feel like they did that for me. |

Haha, what? THis show is fucking brilliant! I don't even consider it a comedy, some parts of it are funny, but I'm more into the surreal looseness and the awesome musiccal numbers. The show is incredibly fascinating all the time, and the art direction (!) is topnotch. Any episode with THE HITCHER is amazing... "I'M A REAL COCKNEY NUTJOB, I'LL CUT YOU UP!" I dunno, I don't really ever laugh at movies (except Giuseppe's and the Corn Dog Man!) or shows, so I don't really base my preference on a show based on how "funny" it is, just how interesting it is. It's just so inspired, wacky, and it feels effortless. All the 4th wall breaking stuff, the weird nonsequiters.. everything about it is topnotch. Love it. |

yeah the boosh is one of the best tv shows of this generation! I didn't like it at first when it was sold to me as a comedy but when you understand that it's just a really surreal well made show with nice ideas then it becomes much more enjoyable. I'd be surprised if it isn't talked about like the young ones is now years down the line. Julien Barret is great also.

![]() 8.5/10 It's better than you probably think it will be. ![]() 9/10 Criminally underrated. A new favorite |
Barton Fink - 8/10
What a great movie! The way it evolves from a simple story about a struggling writer to some sort of surreal hellfest. Tons of food for thought. |
Yeah Barton Fink rules.
Also, Robocop underrated? Eh? It's rated just right! It's on Criterion, no Criterion movie is underrated... usually, quite the opposite actually. |
Robocop is one of the most ridiculous mainstream movies of the 80s. When I first saw it, it was probably the most over the top movie I'd ever seen at the time, plus the satirical elements show that for all the violence and how inane the overall concept is, whomever created it had a head on their shoulders (I know Paul Verhoven (sp?) directed it, but I don't know for sure if he wrote it)...
The sequels, on the other hand... |
Avatar and I'm too lazy to post in that thread
|
spent a rather enjoyable evening the other day with my dad watching all three Jason Bourne movies. pretty good as far as action movies go.

the scene with the limbs getting blown off is unreal. Fred Dekker wrote one of the sequels, but I dont know which one. I didn't see it. |
Black Snake Moan was terribly disappointing.
|

you saw what Ricci was wearing in it, right? |
Dekker did Robocop 3 and then disappeared :(
|
Re-watched Freddy Got Fingered for the 500th time with the old lady. What a masterpiece. The most surreal and brilliant mainstream comedy, maybe ever? 10/10.
|
you always mention that. And I still haven't seen it. Maybe I'll add it to Netflix.
|
I watched "Wall Street" (dir. Oliver Stone) last weekend. Charlie Sheen is good as a financier on the fast-track to glory. Great footage of Manhattan.
