And whatever the result, it's a proper fight. Just hope it doesn't end in an early GGG ko |
Think Canelo is too good to fall for that.
This Napoli game has been great so far. Whilst not loads of attempts on target, the pace is just ridiculous. Seems like Bologna are taking the game to Napoli. From the first minute it's been all out. All the battles are going on in midfield which is pretty interesting to see. Three yellow cards in the first fifteen minutes says it all too. Oh and a dislocated shoulder for one of the Napoli players too. Will say Bologna are a bunch of dirty bastards. |
Not sure I know how to feel about tonight's game. A WH win probably means a stay of execution for Bilic but will likely only prolong the agony. I hate these kinds of situations.
DeBoer out at Palace, Hodgson in? Hmm. At least Bilic won't be the 1st man out. EDIT: Stay of execution for Bilic but he's a dead man walking. The win wasn't convincing. We were awful. Just Huddersfield were even worse. |
On a more pressing and profound fútbol issue: just what IN ALL THAT IS FUCK is up with the haircuts, man. Who told these mooks that shaving the sides of your head is a good look? Kim Jong-un?
|
Football went to fuck after FIFA banned the bubble perm.
|
Think Fellaini is doing a good job trying to keep that flag flying.
It's here again! Champions league has come back! Get ready for your heart to do a flutter when hearing the theme song, Andy Townsend to chat the usual rubbish (if he says "delicious" at any point I'll putting a fatwa on him), get ready to see the usual glut of English teams to underwhelm. Again. Tonight's game will be Juventus/Barcelona for me. After last year's 3-0 drubbing by Juventus it's gonna be interesting to see if things are any different this time. |

on to a different subject, the conmebol world cup qualifier table looks bananas
aside from brazil on the top and venezuela+bolivia at the hopeless bottom, there's amazing parity with only 2 games left. brazil 37 uruguay 27 colombia 26 peru 24 argentina 24 chile 23 paraguay 21 ecuador 20 bolivia 13 venezuela 8 withouth having the actual fixtures at hand looks like almost anyone could qualify at this point |
Quote:
![]() Perú came out of nowhere to reach fourth place. They did their job, unlike Chile, who were a fucking WRECK (0-3 vs Paraguay in Santiago and 0-1 vs Bolivia in La Paz). I blame the haircuts. |
Quote:
Yeah, the obvious standout fixture tonight, although I'm most looking forward to Spurs v Dortmund tomorrow. |
Quote:
argentina shat the bed too! 1-1 vs bolivia in bs as? lol. other than shoe-in brazil, it looks like uruguay is the only team with an easy ride... unless they step on a banana peel in... la paz? or get sabotaged by chavismo. lol i don't know where they're playing. doesn't matter, was just saying, everyone else has an uneasy road. Quote:
damn, it looks like little messi does more than play the piano! ha ha ha missing tomorrow's match will hurt a bit more than today's, but i'll have to steel myself with the promise of highlights. FML ha ha ha ha ha. |

The fixture I posted shows all local teams first. So Uruguay vs Bolivia is in Montevideo. Argentina knows that going to Quito is going to be a beyotch (they just can't stand the altitude), so they'll want to secure the three points in Buenos Aires against Perú with all they have. That could open the road for Chile, as long as those jokers get their shit together vs Ecuador in Santiago. After that... If I'm not mistaken, Chile has never saved a single goddamn point in Brazil, so fugheddabouddit. I BLAME THE HAIRCUTS. |
lol paraguay vs venezuela. pointless match.
remember paraguay's chilavert era? they were a great little team. they flew a little for a while. wtf happened... |
Quote:
Absolutely! But you know, those guys were tremendous during the qualifiers, sometimes even with spectacle fútbol (the Martino years) and then they'd go to the World Cup just to kick and elbow rivals left and right. So what was the point! :D |
I changed my mind last night and decided to go for the PSG/Celtic game. I actually really want Mbappe to get the ballon d'or before Neymar. That would be too Perfect.
Last night just highlighted how much of a skeevy little rat Neymar is. However, Cavani's header for the 5th(?) goal was just incredible. Up there with one if the best headers I've ever seen. Did you end up watching the Barca game, demo? I saw the goals and nice to see Messi still playing as brilliant as ever. |
Yeah, Messi was brilliant. Just one unplayable run after another. I'm wondering if Neymar going has freed him up a bit.
I was most interested in seeing Dembele, though. He looked a little nervous, trying to do too much, perhaps a bit too keen to impress. There were moments though that make me think he'll be great once he settles. His touch really is something else and his pace will terrify defences. Just a case of having patience with him and regularly reminding yourself he is still only 20. |
Quote:
just give him time. he's young and still a little fragile but mega-talented. once he gets over the shock at his great good fortune and the spotlight of the world shining upon him he'll be amazing. |
Quote:
Well he's at the best place is he wants good advice. Imagine playing with those guys. How could it not kick you up a level? So tonight I'm going with Liverpool/Sevilla. Mainly because Sevilla is now my adopted home town. Only cos I went on holiday there for a week, but it's basically a second home now. Feel like there's a better game here than the Spurs game. Also! You hear about why Asensio dropped out of the Real Madrid game tonight? He's got an infected pimple from shaving his legs. Jesus wept. You'd just make up a story than say that. Can't imagine Terry Butcher ever having that problem. Modern football, ladies and gentlemen. |
Quote:
He was ALWAYS cutting himself shaving ![]() Still plyed, even when he had to rely on a regular Bic, rather than a Bic Orange. |
Everton are an absolute fucking joke.
I wouldn't be surprised if after we play Man Utd this weekend we go four games without a shot on target. |

Wanna swap teams? |
Quote:
Did you see it? I just watched a rerun. The result was a surprise. I gave it to GGG but this obviously suits the TV guys as it guarantees a rematch. |
Quote:
Still not seen it rather annoyingly. I only have BT online and not the box so boxnation isn't available. Tried to find a torrent to no avail. I'll get it watched at some point today. Sounds like some serious contentious decisions. Same with the Mayweather fight tbh. And does the fight highlight how good Mayweather was against Canelo? |
Quote:
That'd be like swapping a kick in the balls for a poke in the eye. Neither is preferable. |
Quote:
Mayweather had some favourable decisions but the guy's brilliant at what he does. He beat Canelo fair and square as far as I'm concerned. Just as GGG did last night, but it's boxing: only a ko guarantees a fair decision. One judge scored it 118-110 to Canelo. That has to be investigated because even the most biased Alvarez fan would say that's absurd. Be interesting to know how you see it after watching it. |
This is now the boxing thread. Football has been cancelled til further notice.
Ok, the GGG/Canelo fight. It was an interesting one. How the FUCK one of the judges called the fight 118-110 is beyond me. Thankfully she's been fucked off now. Do I think it was fixed? I dunno. The actual fight! Canelo played this one brilliantly. GGG is an absolute beast when he gets someone on the ropes and yet whenever Canelo went to the ropes GGG couldn't do anything. The old rope a dope trick. Who do I think won it? I dunno. I'm biased towards Golovkin so I'd lean towards him anyway. I will say save for the first three/four rounds most of them went to GGG for me. But as the judges have shown, you don't need to be an expert to say. I'm actually tempted to re-watch it. |
I watched it again today to see how I'd score it. I made it 7-5 GGG, but some of those GGG rounds could've easily gone either way. Canelo definitely had the early rounds but GGG seemed more in control as the fight went on, landing more punches - although Canelo's seemed harder. Either way a great fight.
|
Hey, let's keep this thread focused on Football, will we?
|
Hey, we haven't even started talking about Springsteen yet.

I might be of service on that one. :) |
Ended up going to today's game of Everton/Bournemouth. The first half was absolute dirge. I don't actually know what Koeman's plan is with the team. At all.
Guess you feel the same Demo with West Ham? |
WH-Spurs was weird. We were arguably the better team for large periods but Kane, Eriksen, Alli, can always punish you even when Spurs as a whole aren't playing great. But the problem isn't losing to Spurs, it's the fact we invariably don't turn up against teams we have a realistic chance against. Either way, the result was bad but the performance probably bought Bilic a bit more time. His big problem is trying to find a way for Chicharito and Carroll to play together. Also he can't keep putting his faith in Noble.
From what I'm hearing about the Everton game, Niasse saved Koeman big time. |
PSG offering Cavani €1m to let Neymar take penalties?

fucking neymar. and it's chump change, i say. cavani should hold out for more. |
So, Bayern sack Ancelotti. Any word on who might replace him or where he might go next? (West Ham are apparently interested but I'd think there are more attractive offer out threre.)

I wouldn't be surprised if Tuchel gets it. Even though I desperately want Everton to fork out and get him  oh the joys of being an Everton fan show themselves once again. |
