I am australian.

EVOLghost 06.18.2012 09:13 PM

I must've misread yer posts. I first thought you were a mole person....then a Mexican, but nope...

ink. 06.18.2012 09:22 PM

what is a mole person?

EVOLghost 06.18.2012 09:28 PM

A person who lives underground...

I don't know if that was a serious question.

I'm gonna go back to watching fighting games and listen to more kpop.

floatingslowly 06.18.2012 09:28 PM

I am a mole person.

Morlockian ascendant.

As I've said before, the English don't do barbecue because we have sunny weather for 2 weeks of the year.

We don't know HOW to BBQ.
We don't know WHAT to BBQ.
We don't know WHERE to BBQ.
We don't even know what a BBQ IS.

As a famous poet once said, a half cooked chicken drumstick (black on the outside, raw in the middle) does not a barbecue make.

EVOLghost 06.19.2012 03:20 AM

I never once had anything cooked with wood.

Nevermind. (CARNITAS!)

Yep. Thought so.

you said this way funnier in the other thread but then you deleted it! that was a great post-- you called people "idiots" if i recall. i laughed but i couldn't give you a thumbs up.

anyway if you ever dare visit the yooessey in spite of the guns and bibles everywhere, do yourself a favor and try the barbecue. and by that i mean slow-cooked meat, southern-style. it's great stuff.

The best lesson King Alfred ever taught us.

A Thousand Threads 06.19.2012 11:35 AM

I love bbq/grilling like crazy.

fresh salads and herbs from the garden
cold beverage
gathering some friends on a hot day
quality meat
good tunes

what's not to like?

The music is essential. Here are some bbq-favourites of mine:

Lennie Hibbert
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Qek0...eature=related
(for me his version of Tumble Down from the same record is as good as it gets, but that's not youtube)

Link Wray
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqvYi...eature=related

Luzmila Carpio
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRrlR...eature=related

Santo y Johnny
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOdGC...eature=related

electic lucifer book II
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eq9QBPZlXA
(pretty much love all of Haack's output, but this one's ideal for the boombox)

Son of PM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkQwC-k8MPo
(the one from Sublime Frequency featuring them is nice too)

So, what are your favourites?

Best barbecue I had last year was with my mother and a friend. We grilled trouts, wore soviet caps and fooled around with a german rifle from WWI.

dale_gribble 06.19.2012 11:54 AM

i like anything that involves building/maintaining a fire...if my dick was flame retardant there would be a bunch of little baby fires walking around by now.

try grilling a whole pineapple wheel one of these days, as if it was a steak. mang! the flavor!

ps- also try these w/ some beef:

cebollitas de cambray. they should be available in your area.

fuck all that yo, onions are for prep cleaning the grill!
I eat vegetables when I eat vegetables, when we're talking about the grill, bring on the carne ; )

Rob Instigator 06.19.2012 05:23 PM

BBQ. No sauce while slo smokin or grillin. Only dry rubs

Sauce is for once the meat is cut and the feast is to begin

Rob Instigator 06.19.2012 05:29 PM

Cebollitas and corn baby.

BBQs don't do it for me. It's cringeworthy, generic, pretentious culinary hipsterism for the middle classes. The closest I ever got to cooking out in the open was when I once heated up a can of baked beans next to a fire I made in local woodland.

BBQ is the last link to the archaic - a million years of evolution when everything was cooked over open flame - its the most human and natural of cooking forms.

Its one thing that sucks about living in the city, no grilling.

floatingslowly 06.20.2012 01:51 PM

I don't bbq because animals are my FRIENDS.

I've never tried that, I'm not even that big a fan of pineapples, but the very thought of it sounds amazing.

Forgive me, I'm sorry if this has been previously discussed, as I pay very little attention, but if I'm in the UK, and I wish to call someone, in this case let's say EVOLGHOST, a 'cocksmoker', what should I say?

Chickenbbq.???
