also, how about the scientists?

demonrail666 03.17.2007 07:53 PM

Yeah, the Grinderman LP is pretty good. Definitely better than a lot of the Bad Seeds stuff recently.

If you haven't heard the Swell Maps - they did catchy post-punk with the odd experimentation elements, though the production was crap (for Jane in Occupied Europe at least) - I'd recommend you hear some of their songs.

I'd seriously recommend it. It's pretty easy to get on amazon or even at a local Borders. The best book I've read recently, by a long way.

You look hard to please, demonrail. Try to have an open mind on music...

demonrail666 03.17.2007 08:54 PM

Hey, I'm seeking out and listening to samples of everything people suggest. What am I meant to do? Say I love something that I don't?

These last few months i've been really narrowing my tastes down to a hardcore of stuff. It's a phase, I'll get over it. It does prove in a way though that most of my time listening to stuff is spent tolerating records that ALMOST get it right.

Wicked albums both, but doncha think they're a bit too poppy to be called "scummy"?

demonrail666 03.18.2007 09:30 AM

I just ordered Harry Pussy's What Was Music? CD. I've been wanting to hear them for ages now. Thanks so far.
