I spend too much time learning different chords. I can't solo worth shit. I'm getting better at that recently, though. Steely Dan and Jeff Buckley pretty much taught me every chord that exists, so there's not much work to be done there any more.

I learnt to play songs from the first 2 Siouxsie and the Banshees album, which have quite a lot of extended/dissonant chords. MBV use a lot of different dissonant chords w/their open-tuned guitars.

That's really the best way to do it. The only way, actually.

I treat chords kind of like collectables, though. They only really come in handy when I want to write a song with two chords that are really far apart. I can usually figure out a way to play them within the same couple frets. Or when I want a certain level of dissonance for something specific. Other than that, feel will just work the song out itself.

I actually interviewed a girl for a paper once who was releasing her first CD. She majored in music arrangement and piano performance, or something ridiculous like that, but her songs are very dark and dissonant. I asked her where that came from and she said Siouxsie.

Messrs John McKay and John McGeoch are two of my all-time fave post-punk guitarists. Also must mention Keith Levene too, as well as Viv Albertine from the Slits...and on the NYC side, the three girls in Ut.

This is her MySpace. If you listen to Through An Aquarium you can see the influence in the midst off all the classical training whatnot. I've seen her play Siouxsie covers on occassion live, too.

IngredientsLime Marinade

• 6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon cumin seed, toasted and ground
• 1/2 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped
• 1 teaspoon chili powder
• 2 tablespoons safflower oil
• 1/4 cup water

Zesty Sour Cream

• 1/2 cup fresh sour cream
• 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, minced (NOT dried)
• 1/2 tablespoon tequila
• 1 garlic clove, finely minced

Vegetables

• 1 red bell pepper
• 1 green bell pepper (or orange, yellow)
• 1 yellow onion
• 1 medium zucchini
• 1 medium summer squash

Directions

   For marinade, blend all ingredientgs together well and set aside.

   Combine the sour cream ingredients and stir well. Set aside.

   To prepare vegetables for cooking, cut vegetables to uniform size strips 1/4 inch wide by 3 inches long. Combine all the cut vegetables in a large bowl.

   Preheat a large skillet or wok on high heat then add 2 tablespoons of the oil. Add the vegetables, and saute for 2 minutes.

   Next carefully add half of the lime marinade and saute another 2 minutes. The vegetables are finished cooking when they are heated through entirely and still have a crunchy texture, but not mushy. If the vegetables start to dry out while cooking, add a little bit more of the marinade.

   Serve the fajita mixture with a choice of warmed corn or whole wheat tortillas.Serve sour cream on the side.
