yesss. i just had some ear wires with the loops on them. i cut a bunch of different pieces of broken chain different lengths (i cut a matching piece for each for the other ear) and hung them on the ear wires. |
Fuckin awesome. Ahh, a bunch of smaller chains. I cant really tell in the photo.
Do you do that often? Just make new things out of old things? |
almost all the chains are different. everyone always has a bunch of broken chains.
i don't make much stuff anymore... not even jewelry. either too busy or too tired from being too busy. haha. i used to a run a bead and imports store... i had to make a LOT of jewelry back then... even for myself. cut stuff up and re-work it. i don't enjoy doing it so much anymore, but if there's something i want or need... i will make it. ...sadly i can't sew worth a shit, but i take stuff to my friends who can sew with ideas and instructions. i've always had a bad habit of cutting my clothes into different things, but it's become less appropriate the older i've gotten. |
Unfortunately I dont have too many broken chains, but I've got chains I want to break.
Meh, you're bound to get tired of something you've done a lot of, even if it was from enjoyment. Your own store....holyshit! Do you have any of your old stuff from then laying around ? What was your style ? You mentioned punkrock...what kinda jewelery does that mean ? Aye, I used to make a lot of my own clothes, or rather as you said, just cut up and modify stuff I'd buy from thrift shops. For some reason though I got lazy and lost interest in anything to do with appearance and style. It's something that sits in the back of my mind though, cuz its a good creative hobby to have. |
oh no no no. i just ran a shop in oklahoma city for a guy that had some others down in austin. it was straight up beads and beading supplies. we had everything you could want though. the other half of the store was imports. from asian musical instruments to masks to some just random indonesian crap. you know the sort, i'm sure. what i would make for myself would often be a lot different than what i would make to sell in the store.
i always liked the cutting up clothes bit. the extent of my cutting these days is just a t-shirt here and there. i really do wish i could properly sew though. i just fucking suck at it. sometimes i find a skirt or something and want one that's cut just like it... in a different fabric. it gets pricey to have a tailor do it. |
I so want to learn how to sew.
