The Science of Sleep. It was pretty lovely.

I know this would belong to another thread, but since !@#$% brought up the subject of the movie (which I'm anxious for it to show here, mainly because of Alec Baldwin :o) I finished reading the book RUNNING WITH SCISSORS some months ago from a friend in New York. I didn't enjoy it that much. It's an insane thing, and thinking the guy really lived through that well...But I don't think Augusten Burroughs is such a good writer (c'mon, he was compared to WILLIAM Burroughs), as the characters don't look human, they lack a motivation or something. He seems just an observer (which in fact he was). Maybe he didn't process all of that shit completely or enough to make it deeper. Well I shouldn't complain, at least he went on when most of us would collapse. Anyway as I said, I'm looking forward to the movie. |
Last movie I saw was BLOOD DIAMOND. Only thing I'll say: why Djimon Hounsou was nominated for Best Supporting Actor while Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated as Best Actor (which I disagree, he should have been nominated for THE DEPARTED not this film).
Maybe because Djimon Hounsou is black and is not such a star as DiCaprio is. Because the main character is Hounsou's not DiCaprio's. Well Hollywood. |
Science of Sleep...a real cool film

Play it Again, Sam.
I must watch more Woody Allen movies. I loved it. |

ghost world
another brilliant zwigoff-clowes film. ties with "crumb". |
Inland Empire.... - monumental
The Science Of Sleep... - sublime |
i watched schindlers list last night for no reason in particular.
|
Watched Inland Empire and it was, as toxic johnny stated, monumental. 3 hours genuinely flew by and it was, at times, a bit terrifying.
|
La Mome. Not bad.
|
I watched Babel last night. Good movie, but I wasn't to keen on seeing Pitt and Blanchett amongst unknown actors. They stuck out like hamburgers on a persian carpet, which spoiled the movie is a way. Loved the japanese story the most, and the soundtrack was great.

If (like me) you sometimes enjoy watching films where very little happens, then it's pretty ood. My very favourite in the films-wherevery-little-happens category is the Iranian The Wind Will Carry Us, which I would highly recommend. The last film I watched is Canada's greatest, Jesus of Montreal. |
Thanks. I'll look out for that Iranian film.
How's life Hip? Don't see you much on the forum anymore. |
I know. I've just been very busy and very tired, but things are really good. I'm trying to be online more. How about yourself?
