we get universities with all sorts of prices. Generally, they charge monthly installments and have 5/6 hrs lesson mon-sat. in the morning, afternoon or evening. That allows people to work to pay for it which is what I did. You normally need to work (internship or a job) to get your degree anyway.
There's not much they can do if you can't afford to pay, they cannot kick you out. on the other hand, the best universities are state-owned and 100% free. |
its really fucking snowing!

FREE??????unheard of in this country. You HAVE to be rich or smart to go to a good university. Or some can get limited federal help through grants. Most get stuck with loans or have to work thier asses off at a shithole to pay for community college and if you don't pay you don't go to school. I had to do an internship for my job but it was only 3 months and I was lucky I found one that paid. |
Free yeah. But you gotta be really fucking good to get in. I didn't even try.
It's illegal here not to pay interns, so I got lucky. I started my internship before university even. |
That really blows my mind. Why do we have to pay in America? It is like they want us to to be thier stupid sheep or something. BTW I'm sure you could have got in. You're one of the smartest I have come across. I had to spend roughly $800 a semester back in 1997 at a community college. (now the cost has at leats tripled) A university here is like $30,000 per year (2 semesters) I did'nt have a chance. Both of my sisters are up to their necks in student loans with high interest rates.
|
Hold on, Gail. I had to pay. Generally you have to be a genius to get to free university, which usually means going to the best schools your whole life, so it's not really that easy. What I paid for university would be enough to buy a house. Some people say it's counterproductive and I guess in some cases they are right. The problem is society in general kind of things you NEED to have a BA/degree to do ANYTHING, which is bullshit.
I probably wouldn't have gotten in: I had to beat 50 people for the spot I wanted. At the time I was paying my entire wage to them every month, which is fine because at least I'm not in debt. |
I thought that sounded to good to be true;) I probably could have gotten a scholarship to a university if I had applied myself more. Or if I did not decide to marry early but that's my own decisions. It took me 10 yrs to get my AS in design. I just took a few classes at a time and popped out some kids. I need a BA in this field simply because everyone here has one and it scores major points on resumes. I don't stand a chance in hell. Mostly because of this economy. It is not a "needed" field. Lots of lay offs and firms going under leaving 100s of other designers with more qualifications waiting for the same jobs I am.
|
Exactly. I mean this idea that everyone has to do a BA for everything, then everyone is forced to do it to even stand a chance. Only the educational system profits from that.

IT'S fucked up
