Don't know what it is, but I've gone right off sex as a concept for the last week or so. Just doesn't appeal to me.

I just read a fluff-piece on Viennese subway displays malfunctioning and displaying weird, somewhat funny gibberish instead of important announcements and actual train directions. It was amusing in and of itself, but the award goes to it quoting someone with a twitter-handle ending in "Ginderella". Good stuff.

I once got quoted in an article about the 2016 election here - I pointed out that the opposition leader had an overly large head, likening it to Ken Griffey Jr. in The Simpsons.

I first remember seeing the name, Bowery Electric, on the Kranky website. A good friend in Dallas had Beat soon as it came out and he recorded it to a cassette for me.

Oddly, a search here only produced one SYG Bowery Electric thread. As you can see, some weren’t too happy with their “new” trip-hop sound of Lushlife, which it appears led to their demise 20 years ago.

i have to say that it's pretty cool that they made an album like that, the band just wanted to try out new stuff i guess. i enjoyed it, tho Beat is my most fav record of theirs, really hypnotic stuff

Seeing clips from the movie "Jeffrey" today made me think of an unsolved mystery I've been trying to crack for a while now. When I stayed at the Airbnb home in NYC last year, the people living in the shared apartment would sometimes watch movies with the door open, I could plainly hear pieces of dialogue in my room when I was editing photos and whatnot. One night, they we're watching what I assume to be an LGBTQ-themed comedy/dramedy with a bit of social satire.

It opened up with a crystal clear deep voice of an elderly(?) British guy talking to an audience (stand-up?). It was a distinct voice, at the time I thought it could be Sir Ian McKellen, but now I think it could also be his real life bud Patrick Stewart (or someone entirely different who just kind of sounds like them).

Anyway, he said something to the accord of "You know the difference between erotic and kinky? The erotic man uses a feather, the kinky man uses an entire chicken.". It's quite a famous quote that gets thrown around here and there, so that doesn't help. Anyway, if I remember correctly, it went on to tell a story about an aging gay man who is kind of in denial about his sexuality. But I could be wrong about that. It's only bits and pieces of dialogue that have stayed with me, but the sound quality was very distinct and it seemed like an interesting production.

Thought it'd be easy for me to find, based on the pieces of information I supposed I had, so I didn't bother to ask. But now I'm none the wiser. Didn't think such mysteries still existed in the age of information.

Woke up some time in the night/early morning hours because I had to go to the bathroom. I remember being awake enough to function properly, but mind-wise I was in this sweet state between awake and asleep. Wonderfully sedated and drifting off into associative realms still somewhat fuelled by the dream I had only moments ago. My anxieties and pre-occupations didn't matter at that moment. Went back into my room and drifted off into sleep again, content. I'd like to to repeat that some time soon. Such an effortlessly relaxed feeling and it came out of nowhere.

There's this dude who dedicated to his YouTube channel to his cat ... named Thurston Waffles. He makes cute videos with some nice song snippets in there. Lots of good stuff, MBV, the Youf, etc. Mentioning this, because it appeared in my recommendations again. And cute cat videos are a great way to combat the 2020 blues.

Would it be so terrible to say you've been told to self isolate for two weeks just so you can get some time off work?

As of yesterday, I never have to do any English classes again. Done the exam, so now I can just forgot all about prosodic features and assimilation.
